BRICS nations push tourism tech and training in Jaipur talks
The BRICS Tourism Working Group (TWG) held its second meeting in 2026 to advance collaboration on travel and workforce development among member nations. Taking place in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on August 19, the gathering operated under India’s leadership as the BRICS chair. Attendees addressed four main areas: integrating artificial intelligence into tourism operations, promoting environmental sustainability, expanding skills training programs, and improving cross-border travel procedures.
Participants emphasized tourism’s importance as an engine for economic expansion, job creation, and cultural exchange while acknowledging the need to adapt to digital transformation and sustainability requirements. The discussions built on earlier virtual sessions in May, where members had explored responsible technology adoption, community-focused tourism models, and workforce preparation initiatives.
The working group’s recommendations will shape the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting scheduled for August 21, which follows a technical tour of Jaipur’s heritage landmarks, including Hawa Mahal and City Palace.
For BRICS economies, tourism represents both a significant economic asset and a platform for international cooperation. The working group’s focus on upskilling workers and digital adoption aligns with broader industry efforts to adopt modern practices while protecting cultural heritage sites.
Before the ministers convene, delegates will assess Rajasthan’s tourism infrastructure, particularly how technology and local partnerships enhance visitor access.
