InterContinental Sapa Resort Unveiled in Vietnam

IHG Hotels & Resorts and Alphanam Group have officially announced their partnership for The Residences at InterContinental Sapa Resort. This project marks the debut of InterContinental branded residences in Northwest Vietnam, setting a new standard for high-altitude hospitality in the region.
The development is situated in the Muong Hoa Valley within Sapa, Lao Cai Province. It forms a distinct part of the 83-hectare Alphora Muong Hoa International Resort Complex, a large-scale project spearheaded by Alphanam Group.
Villas Shaped by Mountain Topography
The residential component will comprise 79 branded villas. These homes are designed to offer owners direct access to a suite of hotel facilities.
Amenities include dining options, wellness services, concierge assistance, and various hospitality experiences typically reserved for hotel guests.
Architectural planning involved a team of international consultants, including DP Architects, Avalon, SCSY, and P Environment. The design process prioritized a careful integration with the natural topography of the valley.
The goal was to ensure the structures complement rather than dominate the surrounding terrain.
Bryan Chan, Vice President of Development for South East Asia & Korea at IHG, noted that the project combines the global legacy of the InterContinental brand with the natural beauty of the location. He described it as an exceptional residential offering in one of Vietnam’s most remarkable destinations.
Chan added that the project reflects growing demand for high-quality branded living and long-term confidence in the country’s hospitality sector.
Nguyen Ngoc My, Vice Chairwoman of Alphanam Group, emphasized the discipline required to develop on heritage land. She stated that the team approaches every stage of development with thorough research and rigorous consideration.
For the InterContinental component, they selected architects from the UK and Switzerland. My highlighted that these professionals possess a deep understanding of mountain climates, specifically humidity and cold weather, which is critical for guest expectations in Sapa.
A New Benchmark for Altitude
Upon completion, this development is expected to become the highest-altitude InterContinental branded residential villa project in the global portfolio.
IHG currently has 35 branded residential projects open or in the sales phase across 19 countries. The company has additional opportunities in the pipeline, indicating a continued strategy of expanding its branded living offerings into new geographic markets.
This Sapa project adds a distinct high-altitude dimension to that global footprint.
