A four web page letter, written in French by 19th-century artists Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, bought to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam at Drouot auction rooms in Paris for an enormous £189,000. In the letter, the 2 artists write of their experiences residing together in Arles, Provence, and also of their visits to French brothels. The exhibition was to incorporate many of the female artist’s paintings, as well as biographical paperwork to help us perceive her struggles and give her again a voice that has often been overlooked.
